Vesta Scullers’ Head 2021- J17 1x

Vesta Scullers Head, the biggest singles race in the UK, is back for 2021. The gruelling distance of 6.8km will be a great test for squads up and down the country. With many schools and clubs using this competition as a seat racing opportunity, athletes will need to prove themselves this weekend. With 13 crews competing in this category, It will be real battle to get that top spot.

Windsor Boys School – CADWALLADER

First up, we have Jack Cadwallader. Jack had an exceptional 2021 season with his past school, Hereford Cathedral. This shows in him winning the J16 4x at national schools, a win in the J16 4x at Brit champs and he was part of the same crew that qualified for Henley Royal Regatta at just 16 years old. As you can see, Jack has won a considerable amount already so it would be great to see what else he has under his belt, especially in the single.

Newark Rowing Club – CRADDUCK + BOWES

Newark Rowing Club, always known to bring out some of the top junior Scullers. These 2 lads have a decent amount of racing experience under their belt. This includes getting a 13th place in the J16 4X at national schools with just under a second away from getting into the B final. These 2 boys will have a lot to prove this weekend as they are against eachother and as they venture into the single.

Team Keane Sculling School – PABST

Team Keane, a great recent developing club that always give athletes the best opportunities within their programme, and this is one of them. Nick Pabst has already had some exciting racing last season in the J16 4x at the National Schools. With them getting a 12th place in the time trial and then  later racing in the B final where they kept a decent charge with the other ‘so called’ renowned clubs.

Prediction:

With only really seeing past results from National Schools and Brit Champs, this is what I would expect this weekend.

1st  – Windsor Boys School – CADWALLADER

2nd  – Newark Rowing Club – CRADDUCK

3rd – Team Keane Sculling School – PABST
