The Scullers Head is one of the last races this calendar year and following many cancellations of recent events, rowers will be hoping to show that their training has paid off.
Maidenhead
The three Maidenhead Scullers entered look to be the ones to beat following their results from the single at Wallingford LDS and in the double at Pairs Head. Hall looks to be the leading sculler having placed 9th in the single at Wallingford Long Distance Sculls in late September and then winning the WJ16 2x Championship at Pairs Head in October . Both Parcell- Arregi and Stockdale also raced at Wallingford LDS finishing 15th and 7th respectively, they also combined to place 4th in the WJ16 2x Championship at Pairs Head suggesting this could be a close race on Saturday.
Putney High School
With 8 Scullers entered there’s going to be strong competition within this squad as well as between other clubs. They have no single results posted this season but 7 of the 8 scullers raced in the WJ16 2x Club event at the Pairs Head. Saunders and Low placed 3rd, Jarvis and Hughes 4th, Potts and Patton 5th and Rezvani 6th suggesting that there is little to separate all 8. They will certainly look to chase the Maidenhead scullers as they aim to show their individual sculling ability with the head season well underway.
Hinksey Sculling School
Ferry heads off first on Saturday and will look to build on her 18th place at Wallingford Long Distance Sculls in order to challenge for the top spots.
Prediction
There are a range of other clubs entered into this event including 5 St Pauls Girls School scullers. With little racing experience so far this season due to weather conditions, it could be a fairly tight race however, the competition for top spots look to be a battle between the Maidenhead and Putney scullers.
