Wallingford Long distance sculls is a head race held in Wallingford and the course covers 4250 meters. The J18 quads is a very fast paced event and there are several crews that are ones to look out for during the race.
Wallingford RC
The first crew to keep an eye on at Wallingford would be the home team. Wallingford B – Francis. The Crew has performed well this racing season and have got their names out in the further field. Putting the finishing touches on last season when the crew competed at Metropolitan Regatta finishing 4th in the heat and failed to qualify to the final. Wallingford B’s season continued at Marlow regatta by coming 3rd in the C final with a 7:04.95, They succeed in beating their A crew as well as the Maidenhead crew who were also competing at Marlow and Wallingford this weekend.
Magdalen College School BC
This crew haven’t made many appearances throughout the season but a highlight is the crew of S. Huepfl, W. Buckland, A. Licudi, E. Mann who came 3rd in the C final of the British Rowing Junior Championships from the 19th to the 21st July. Placing well in the 1500 meter time trial with a 5:55.3 and raced the full course later in the final at a time of 7:43.31.
Sir William Borlase Grammar School BC
The crew from Sir William Borlase Grammar School boat club – O’Niell, have had a very eventful season. Performing very well in Marlow regatta finishing ahead of Wallingford B, Wallingford A and Maidenhead RC, who are all competing at Wallingford this weekend. The crew from William Boralase choosing to go to trials and compete in Henley Royal Regatta (385). The crew of Ed O’Neill (bow) Norbert Builer (2) Ben Furley (3) OLiver Lane (4) the same crew for both Henley and Marlow with some seat substitution. Certainly a strong crew to look out for.
