Wallingford Long distance Sculls or Wallingford Sculls is one of the better known head races in the south, and is one of the opening races to the racing season. One of the shorter races being just over 4KM is a tricky distance to get right, while it is not one the long slogs like the the multiple head races on the Thames; it also isn’t a 2k side by side race and getting the intensity and tempo right will be a true test of the athletes competing at this race.
As a disclaimer to this article, It has been tricky to find information on these crews, therefore this pre-view is based purely upon previous results of the clubs and the performances of their previous athletes in this age group, unless concrete information is available.
Guilford Rowing Club – GUI White(2):
Although there is very little in terms of race results from this Guilford crew makes it difficult to write about this specific crew, However the yellow and green one-pieces of Guilford Rowing Club always have a strong showing at regional regattas, as they are the highest place crew, there is a high expectation that this crew should do reasonably well or take the win.
Royal Grammar School High Wycombe Boat Club – HWG Flanagan:
Basing this off previous results from Marlow Town regatta, where the A boat managed to get into a Race fighting for 3rd Place, unfortunately they didn’t win and ended up coming fourth place in the regatta, which is still a strong showing and is one of the favourites for the win on Saturday.
Other Crews:
Royal Grammar School High Wycombe Boat makes up the other two entires, there will be some fierce inter school rivalry and all the crews will be fighting to better each other, all the boys will be fighting for seats in the top boat and this a good opportunity for RGS to try new combinations to find the fastest boat possible, the other crew include: HWG Chan, HWG Iqbal
