4250m of winding river will greet this batch of J18 scullers as they take on Wallingford LDS. With 10 crews racing in this event this weekend, it will be a nail biting battle for the top spot.
Magdalen College School Boat Club
Magdalen, always been on the rowing scene for quite a while within private school rowing, maybe seen as the less known College School, these boys will have to put all their effort down on the course to get that 1st place.
St Paul’s School Boat Club
Widely renowned for their amazing sweep prowess, St Paul’s look for some early season racing as they enter a double into this weekend. With one of these boys being in the amazingly technical 1st eight last season, we will expect a powerful crew from St Paul’s.
Westminster School Boat Club
With the amazing amount of 5 doubles entered into this category from Westminster, they hold a significant amount of depth that could lead to them having an outstanding season. Having most of these lads getting a 5th place at National Schools in the J16 8+ last season, they hold a decent amount of wattage for one of these doubles to maybe get a top place this weekend.
Other crews:
Other clubs and schools like Stratford upon-Avon have a good pedigree of junior rowing, so I will not be surprised if they get a good placing. Plus Pangbourne can’t go a miss as they have great history within their school and could finish highly this weekend.
Prediction:
Seeing as most of these boys have recently been doing sweep all last season, their j14 expertise can come into play with an extra blade for them to work with.
1st – St Paul’s School
2nd – Westminster School
