Wallingford Regatta 2022 – Junior 16 Boys Eights Preview

Wallingford regatta is another one of the regattas on the old Dorney Lake, this is an event were crews who are unsure or want some more practice, or tactically hide their true pace, this the regatta that some crews may want to enter. Nonetheless it is still a regatta with a lot of very competent and competitive crews which won’t make the winning crews victory very easy. It should be a more than appropriate warm up race for crews heading to JSR or to NATS, and will provide crews the appropriate experience needed on this course to keep their cool and perform well.

Dulwich College Boat Club – DUL – (n/a):
Dulwich College Boat Club is a very prestigious boat club that has been around for a long time, and the decade long fight between Dulwich and Radley is likely continue this season. Dulwich appear to have quite a strong crew and should place recently highly. Dulwich are seeing a emergence as a properly competitive boat club. In addition they will want to start a proper Henley project and go all the way to the Sunday – This may be the crew that does it for them.

Radley College Boat Club – RAD – (n/a):
Radley College Boat Club is a Boat club that has appeared at Henley over the past couple of years and appear to be quite a competitive Boat club that came seriously close to beating Scotch college in the P.E. final in 2017. This will be boat club wanting to take revenge in the next couple of year at Henley, and it is possible that this is the next big project for this club. There will be a high amount of anticipation behind this club and I am sure they will deliver

South African School rowing union – ZAEZ – (n/a):
This crew deserves a mention as they have come all the way from South Africa. I think that it is incredible that a crew has come all the way from South Africa to compete, and I hope that it sets a president for plenty of other international crews to join in the UK circuit and create some extra competition. I am sure that this crew will defiantly provide some strong competition having survived 8 hours on a plane, they will be itching to put a marker down in an international regatta.

Other Crews:
There are some other significant crews such as Abingdon School Boat club – ABS – (n/a) , who are sure to place in the top 5. Kings college school has entered 2 crews Kings College School Boat Club – (A and B) – (n/a) , and will want the two crews to push each other all the way. Other boat crews such as Latymer Upper School Boat Club – LTU – (n/a) and Pangbourne College Boat Club – PAN – (n/a) which will both provide some good level competition to the field and will push the top end of the competition and make them work harder for a victory.

My Predictions are:

  1. Abingdon School Boat club – ABS – (n/a) ,
  2. Radley College Boat Club – RAD – (n/a)
  3. Pangbourne College Boat Club – PAN – (n/a)
