Wansbeck LDS 2018 – Junior Men’s Preview

Wansbeck LDS is fourth in the series, and looks to be a good one, with large entries from CLS and QEHS, and George Watsons’ College coming down, it should hopefully be a great day racing, irregardless of what the weather does.

J18 4x – Only one entry here, an entry from George Watson’s College. It’s not often that GWC come down for the LDS series, so should be a strong quad.

J17 4x – Two entries, one from CLS, one from QEHS. CLS have a stronger pedigree here, but with QEHS having won the J17 4x at Tyne, this should be a very tight contest, with neither boat knowing the course with overwhelming familiarity.

J16 4x – Again two entries here, GWC and St Leonards School. There has not been much showing from SLS on the boys’ side recently, so this is an unknown quantity; however I suspect they will not be too strong. Saying this, GWC are travelling a fair distance for this race, so I suspect they will have a strong showing, therefore I am predicting a win for GWC

J18 2x – Three entries here, two from George Watsons, one from QEHS. I suspect that the boys from George Watsons are the top crews, and those in the quad are a second rate crew, and the QEHS crew are the top two athletes from there. I am predicting a win for GWC Demyanov.

J17 2x-Two entries here, one more from QEHS and one from CLS. Both of these clubs have entries in the J17 4x so I suspect these will not be top crews, yet still good competition and no clear winner.

J16 2x- CLS and DARC in this one, and a suspected win for DARC, but after a lacklustre performance at Tyne, CLS could have improved, but having been beaten by the J16 singles, the prospects look dire.

J17 1x – Three entries, and Graham from CLS should be looking to take the win, having being entered for GB trials

J16 1x- Too close to call this one, after a 1.3 second difference between Bowery and Norman at Tyne LDS,  I feel it would be unfair to call this!
