Junior Rowing News are actively seeking writers for the 2020/2021 season. After one of the strangest and most disrupted years in recent memory, we are all looking forward to returning to some form of normality and JRN plan to be at the forefront of the rowing community once again.
As a well-established platform on the rowing circuit, Junior Rowing News continues to offer incredible opportunities to the team beyond the standard remit of producing articles for thousands of people across the world. In previous years, our writers and editors have commentated at some of the biggest rowing events in the country, led press teams for The Boat Race and Henley Royal Regatta, assisted in the research production for BT Sport and Sunset & Vine, collaborated with other content producers across the world and received promotional kit from Mizuno, our resident clothing partner.
Writers in 2020/2021 will also get the chance to contribute to The End of the Island, our critically acclaimed new podcast led by Newcastle University Boat Club President, Fergus Mainland.
As always, we are looking for people who know the junior rowing circuit, who have a sound understanding of the rudiments of written content and want the opportunity to develop as a writer and analyst. Will Tyrrell, our established commissioning editor, will handle all of the racing previews and reviews, whilst we will also continue developing and expanding our features and news offerings under Ed Evans.
If you would like to be involved, please send a brief registration of interest including your current club/school and preferred category coverage to juniorrowingnews@gmail.com.
Articles will be assigned monthly and will be tailored to each writer i.e. our editors understand that everyone has other commitments and so you can write as frequently as you choose. The more articles you are willing to write, the more you will gain from this experience.
The deadline for applications is 6pm Friday 31st July 2020.
