This year’s Wycliffe J16 coxless quad event features five crews from four great clubs, racing along the beautiful two-and-a-half kilometres of the Saul Canal.
Wallingford RC
Having recently hosted Wallingford head, Wallingford RC are starting their head racing season well, following a number of great performances in the summer from both Henley Royal, BRJC and Henley Women’s regatta. With a strong junior squad Wallingford will be a tough crew to race.
Queen’s Park High School
One of the great rowing schools of the North, and one of the only state schools with a rowing team Queen’s Park are consistently strong and this J16 crew could easily be looking at a top position.
Hereford Cathedral School
Hereford Cathedral School’s J16s performed incredibly well at NSR earlier this year, winning the coxless quad time trial and then going on to win the A final against big threats such as Kingston and Marlow Rowing club.
Finally The King’s School Worcester enter two crews, although not well known for their rowing this higher squad depth than the other clubs perhaps promises a fast A boat.
Predictions
Despite the fact that a number of good crews are entering into this event I think the fastest time will surely be set by either Queen’s Park High School or Wallingford with Hereford Cathedral School also putting in a very strong performance.
