J16 4+ Semi Finals

Headington RC v Henley RC
By the top of the island the Henley crew were leading the Headington girls in the first semi- final of the day, drawing out to gain clear water by the halfway point. Rowing a technically very tidy race, the Henley four were confidently ahead by the finish line beating the Headington crew by at least 2 lengths.

Glasgow Academy/George Watson’s College v St. Paul’s Girls School
It was a shaky start for the St. Pauls crew, which allowed the Glasgow Academy to lead off the island, a demonstration of near perfect blade-work. The St. Paul’s girls weren’t giving up though, and it was neck and neck again at the halfway. The Scottish crew inched out barely a canvas lead in the second third of the race, but coming into the closing stages St. Paul’s was just ahead. Winning by a canvas, the St. Paul’s girls would go on to face Henley in the final this afternoon.

J16 4x Semi Finals

Globe RC v Maidenhead RC
With two J15s in their crew, the Globe girls were just ahead by the end of the island, but Maidenhead were firmly within half a length. By halfway, the Globe crew had managed to pull out to almost a length, a lead they maintained across the finish line.

Henley RC (B) v Wycliffe RC
Off the start the Henley girls were warned to move back to their station, but they still drew out almost a whole length on the Wycliffe crew by the end of the island. After this the home crew was warned again, but this didn’t stop them maintaining their lead past the commentary box. Past halfway the Henley crew looked more composed than the Wycliffe girls, rowing efficiently and picking up the rate for their sprint to line, taking the win by just over half a length.

J16 4+ Final
Henley RC v St. Paul’s Girls School
This was the first final for the St. Paul’s crew for a long time, and they had had to work to get here. The Henley crew had pulled out a slight lead by the end of the island, which they built to a length by the half way point. The Henley girls were well connected, but the St. Paul’s crew was also efficient with sharp catches, staying relaxed despite their position. However, the Henley girls continued to draw put their lead, crossing the finish line two lengths ahead of St. Paul’s, living up to the National Schools’ victory in the eight.

J16 4x Final
Globe RC v Henley RC (B)
By the end of the island the Globe crew’s higher rate had afforded them a slight lead over the Henley B crew. By halfway, the Globe girls had drawn out a length on the home crew, stretching out what looked to be a comfortable lead to cross the finish line well ahead of the Henley girls.
